Steering and Suspension Components Explained

When you want your car to turn or absorb the bumps that are in the roads it is your steering and suspension system that accomplishes that. In essence it is what allows you to remain in control while going down the road. Components such as leaf or coil springs in combination with shock absorbers function together to smooth all the imperfections in the road and keep your tires in contact with the surface so that you can control the vehicle. Every manufacture has their own way of creating a suspension and steering system but they all serve the same purpose and we have worked on all makes and models. The only thing that they all have in common is that over time the individual components will weaken and need replacement to maintain the same level of handling that the car had when it was new. This wear is accelerated if you use your car in harsh conditions such as off road driving and also aggressive driving. With our years of experience in the industry our technicians know how to inspect your chassis components to determine if you simply need an adjustment or if replacement of the parts will be necessary.

If you are noticing uneven tire wear this could also be a sign of needing a steering or suspension repair or you may only need an alignment performed. If you have ran over or hit a pothole recently know that they can cause damage to the steering and suspension system that will reduce the amount of control you as a driver have by reducing the stability of the vehicle. All of the steering and suspension components listed about function as a single unit which means if you have an issue with one component that is not addressed it can lead to further damage of the other parts in the system.
